|SUB-LIEUTENANT SALEH LAHIB
2nd INFANTRY BN. EGYPTIAN ARMY
Sub-Lieut. Lahib was probably a recent
graduate from the Military Academy in
Cairo and served with the 2nd Bn.
during the Nile campaign. Most
Egyptian troops assisted with the
transportation of boats and supplies,
as well as providing garrisons along
the Line of Communications.
This medal is named in the same style
as those to the British Army “ SUB:
LIEUT: SALEH LAHIB, 2nd Bn. INFry. “
Many/most of the medal rolls for the
Egyptian Army survive at The National
Archives in Kew, although they are
scattered and often untitled.
Egyptian troops carry whalers past a difficult
stretch of the river during the Nile Expedition.
