Elandslaagte 21 October 1899.
With three sheets of original discharge papers, a photocopy of
casualty details from the Scottish Border Record mentioning
Scott’s name, eight photocopy pages from the regimental
history on the Chitral campaign and three photocopy pages of
maps and illustrations. James Scott came from Hume near
Greenlaw, Berwickshire. Discharged at Aberdeen 12 December
1901. Conduct very good.

Re-enlisted in 9th Battalion Gordon Highlanders 1 September
1914. Discharged medically unfit for further service at
Fernhurst 14 December 1914. QSA and clasps verified on roll.
Served in 1st Battalion in India and 2nd Battalion in South
Africa. Only two QSAs with this clasp combination to the
regiment.
